Our Turkish Yemeni shoes are known for their breezy nature; both comfortable and stylish but what is the history of them?
Many believe that Turkish Yemeni shoemaking has a history of 700 years. They are believed to have come to southeast Turkey from Yemen via Aleppo, hence the name Yemeni. They were traditionally manufactured for Ottoman soldiers and until near future they were worn by almost everyone in southeast region of Turkey.
With the spreading of modern shoes, Turkish Yemeni shoes had lost their popularity until near future but today, thanks to craftsmen who keep the tradition alive by using the same materials and making method as our ancestors, these shoes are making a big comeback everywhere from Europe to Holywood. Turkish Yemeni shoes can be seen in big blockbusters like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Troy.
